NSW Mandatory Alcohol Interlock Program (MAIP)
This program is designed to allow DUI offenders to earn back their licence. Transport for NSW (TfNSW) administers the alcohol interlock program.
Smart Start Interlocks is a Transport for NSW (TfNSW) approved alcohol interlock supplier.
Completing the Program & Removal Process
You must complete the full period in the Mandatory Alcohol Interlock Program as specified by Transport for NSW.
In the last 6 months of your interlock period, you must demonstrate that you can separate drinking and driving. Failed breath tests (even at low range) can lead to extension in the program.
Transport for NSW will advise you in writing when your interlock participation period has been completed. This letter will need to be shown to your interlock agent before your interlock device can be removed.
