Tasmanian Mandatory Alcohol Interlock Program (MAIP)
The MAIP Interlock Program helps drivers to regain their license after being disqualified for a DUI offence. It is managed by the Department of State Growth (DoST). Smart Start Australia is an approved alcohol interlock supplier for the Tasmanian alcohol interlock scheme.
Completing the Program & Removal Process
To complete the program you must record 0 lockouts for the last 180 days before servicing while on the Demonstration period.
The Department of State Growth (DoST) will advise you when you have completed the program and of the steps to obtaining a new license without the I condition. This includes sending an MAIP Application to Revoke an I Condition Form for you to complete.

Device Information
Keep your alcohol interlock device in top condition by observing the following:
- Don’t place the device on the floor, out of sight/ear shot, or where it may be damaged.
- Make sure that it is securely in its holder whenever the car is moving
- Do not circumvent, tamper, or misuse the device.
- Regularly calibrate your device by bringing it in for servicing.
